Lesson 313 – Additional Learning Resources
Lean Accounting is an important subject when it comes to implementing Lean principles into any business. Why is this? The main reason is that standard financial accounting practices or GAAP as it is known does not support the application of lean principles.
Accounting practices was designed for mass production systems and is focused on efficiency metrics, which actually supports higher levels of inventory. The reasoning behind this approach is simple, parts, whether finished or not, are considered an asset and are their value is used to inflate the profit and loss statement.
